All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore was established in the year 1965 as an autonomous institute fully funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The major objectives of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore are to impart professional training, render clinical services, conduct research and educate the public on issues related to communication disorders such as hearing impairment, mental retardation, voice, fluency and phonological and language disorders.
All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore started with one post-graduate program in the year 1965 and now offers many courses including one Certificate course, 3 Diploma programs (Diploma in Hearing Aid & Ear mould Technology, Diploma in Training Young Hearing Impaired Children and Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech-through distance mode); 2 undergraduate programs (B.Sc. in Speech & Hearing and B.S.Ed - Hearing-Impairment); PG Diploma programs in Clinical Linguistics and Forensic Speech Science and Technology; 3 post-graduate courses (M.Sc. in Audiology, M.Sc. in Speech-Language Pathology and M.S.Ed-Hearing-Impairment). All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore offers PhD programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and also Post-Doctoral Fellowships.
All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore caters to clients of all ages having a whole range of communication disorders. The institute attracts students from all over India and abroad. It has strived in the past 43 years in furthering the cause of professions of Audiology, Speech Language Pathology and Special Education throughout the country. The enthusiasm to excel in reaching out to individuals with communication disorders knows no boundaries. The institute has been recognized as a Center of Excellence in the area of Deafness by WHO, as a Centre for Advance Research by UGC and as a Science and Technology Institute by DST.
All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore has now been recognized as a Nodal Center for the implementation of National Program for Prevention and Control of Deafness of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India as well as for generating man power for the same. Till date, 1113 students have received undergraduate degrees and 852 post-graduate degrees from AIISH. In addition, 40 PhDs in Speech and Hearing, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology have been awarded under the able guidance of the faculty of the institute. Further, in the allied disciplines like Clinical Psychology, Linguistics and Electronics, eight faculty members in AIISH have obtained PhD and some are pursuing the same.
All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore is wholly financed by the Government of India and functions as an autonomous organization under the direction of the Executive Council with the Hon'ble Union minister of Health and family welfare as chairman and the Hon'ble minister of Health and family welfare, Government of Karnataka as the Vice Chairman.

Research Program at College are funded by national and international agencies such as NCERT, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Science and Technology, Dept.of Electronics, UNICEF, WHO, and Helpage International.International facility of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore faculty House contains 15 suites each comprising of 1 bedroom, hall and kitchen. It has been facilitated at the Panchavati Campus for visiting international faculty.
Guest House facility of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore is located in a separate building within the sprawling campus. It houses a eight rooms including two VIP suites, four air conditioned rooms, two non air conditioned rooms, dining hall, cellar, kitchen, foyer, an attic, store, servants quarter, etc. It is surrounded by well kept lush green lawns. Each room is carpeted, provided with cable television, geyser, computer, fans, full time internet services, intercom, attached bath rooms, essential furniture, bedded cots, clothes hangers, insect repellants, pillows, bath mugs, buckets, soap and toilet items, etc. The VIP suites have additional facility of a refrigerator. Depending on the status of the visitor, additional and temporary facilities are provided and later withdrawn after their departure. Dharmashala of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore is a boarding facility for poor patients visiting the institute from far off places. This is located at the Panchavati campus. A nominal fee of Rs. 5/- is charged per person per day for this accommodation.

Canteen at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing – AIISH Mysore has got a fully fledged canteen catering to the staff and students. It has a modern kitchen with best of the amenities and food is served from morning 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. Vegetarian food is only served here.
