Whirlpool Corporation. It was established in the year of 1937 by George Foerstner as The Electrical Equipment Company. In the year 1947, the company launched its first upright freezer for home use. After that in 1949, it introduced a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer. In the year 1950, this Electrical Equipment Company acquired by a group of investors, including its founder and became Amana Refrigeration, Inc. In the year 1954, the company entered in the production of air conditioners. In 1965, it was purchased by Raytheon. Amana has since expanded into making a variety of various appliances such as furnaces, ovens, counter-top ranges, dishwashers and clothes washers & dryers, etc. In the year 1997, the company again acquired by Goodman Global who sold it to Whirlpool in the year 2002.
