IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi was established in January 2005 at IGNOU, strives for a flagship role in turning the rural unemployed youth to first rate agricultural entrepreneurs and agri-business managers of tomorrow. The impact of agricultural education through distance mode will soon be discernible in development of new breeds of entrepreneurs, increased employment opportunities, higher earnings and better work environment.

SOA has been focusing on academic and extension activities in agriculture at the national and international level. Mission of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi is to improve and sustain the quality of human life and productivity of Agriculture and Allied Sectors through Open and Distance Learning. Vision of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi is to extend outreach of agriculture education by harnessing convergence between ODL and conventional system through national and international linkages.
Objectives of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi develop excellence, skill and entrepreneurship for strengthening the human resource base in agriculture through distance education. Use technological innovations for improving outreach and effectiveness of distance education in agriculture. Provide quality, relevant and equitable education through principle of distance education. Establish linkages with institutions in India and abroad having expertise and experience in Distance Education. IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi offers different kind of bachelor and master courses leading to different streams.
IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi is located in G1 and G2, Zakir Hussain Bhawan, New Academic Complex, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Library of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi an air conditioned Digital Library covering over 6923 sq. ft. area has been setup as a knowledge treasure house containing learning material in various forms: books, CD-ROM, Internet, Multimedia Packages, and Videos-films etc. The students and the faculty are provided with free access /open self system, for collecting Books, Journals and other form of reading material. The Library of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhihas a seating capacity of about 500 students and a stocking capacity of over 1.2 lacs Books, Journals and Magazines. It has a digital Library with Internet facility or downloading the latest technical journals and research papers. The institute has an excellent library in 7000 sq. ft area. The library has more than 8000 volumes in addition to National & International Technical Journals and Magazines. Students have access to Digital Library / e-library to nurture their research aptitude. The Institute has spacious, well-furnished Lecture Theatres, Tutorial Rooms, and Drawing Hall for conducting the classes & Conference Room. We have spacious common rooms for both boys & girls.
The faculty of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi officers and staff of the academy include a core team, officers on deputation and experts and advisors on tenure-based appointments. Academic, administrative, financial and facilitative wings enable the activities of the Academy. The various training programmes, workshops, seminars and research projects are made possible by the various institutes.
Library of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhimandate is to support the ongoing training programmes, research projects and cater to the documentary as well as informational requirements of the participants. During last couple of years, IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi library has grown both in volume and in importance. 9712 number of books were issued out and 9410 books were returned by the users. Apart from books in circulation library is also being used for reference and selective reading material for various training programmes. Labs of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi as per the syllabus of MD University Rohtak we have following well equipped labs with modern instruments and equipments to meet the requirements of the first year engineering students:
Workshops of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi are based on modern design with ten bays. It has all the modern machine tools and measuring instruments to provide practical training to the Engineering students. It comprises of machine shop, fitting, sheet metal, carpentry & pattern making, welding, foundry & forging shop.
Computer Centre of IGNOU School of Agriculture – IGNOU SOA New Delhi consists of 160, Pentium D - networked computers having latest operating systems and softwares. The computer center is equipped with sophisticated internet facility with radio link of 512 Kbps. All the computers are on wireless network. The computers have back up supply from online UPS.
