Israel Corporation serve as the parent company for Zim Lines which is a holding company for several other companies.
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Limited was established by the Jewish Agency and the Histadrut in the year 1945. The company owns a large fleet of ships and other vehicles for transportation of goods. For the transportation of goods, the company purchased its first ship which was funded by
Harris and Dixon. Several changes were made to that ship and it was renamed as SS Kedma and started working. During the phase of '1948 war' the company served as the single company which connected the country with other countries and through this company the basic quantities needed for survival such as food, clothing and other products like freight and military equipment.
Zim got privatized in the year 2004 when Israel Corporation bought shares of the company from Government of Israel.
