DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji was established in 1982 by the Dattajirao Kadam Education society. This institute was permitted by the State Government to start a Diploma course in textiles from the academic year 1982 to 83 without any grant-in aid from the Government. DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji was the first educational institute in the state to be started on grant basis and encouraged by the successful establishment of this, the Maharashtra State Government took a policy decision in 1983 to permit various social and industrial organizations of the state to start professional educational institutes, the decision which brought a revolution in the thinking and pattern of the education in the state.

DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji ‘Library’ is housed in a spawning 1000 sq mt area with internationally renowned collection of Books, International magazines, Bound Volumes and Compact Disks (C.D’S) on wide varying subjects such as Technical, Science, Business and societal.
DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji library continues to be a “Prime resource” supporting Teaching, Research and Consultancy Services offered to Faculty, students, Researchers, Industrial members and Private firms. Library procures books and Journals annually. Apart from this it has also received several donations from enlightened students/staff consultants and well-wishers. Considering the rapid advances in various branches of engineering the management of DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji makes provisions to the tune of Rs. 7 Lakhs every year for the library budget, enabling the fast growth of its collections, apart from provisions for Instruments/equipments to the tune of Rs 4 lakh/year. On an average around 500 students/day visit various sections of library to use the facilities. DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji provides Diploma, Bachelor and Master Courses to the students.
A career and placement cell, headed by the principal of DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji has been created. Cell consisting of training and placement officer, students representatives and senior faculty to look after the placement activities, advance training programmes etc. through continuous interaction with leading industrial houses. The cell provides information and or counseling to clarify career goals, indentifying pathways, resume preparation, interview preparation etc. As the Institute enjoys a strong support of industry and corporate houses, it has impressive record of placement of students, mostly through campus interviews.
Every year 500 to 600 students of DKTE Societys Textile and Engineering Institute - Ichalkaranji are placed for in plant training in various reputed manufacturing units in all the part of India to give an industrial exposure. Some of the organizations are offering on job training and project during their training. Evaluation of training is done by External Examiner having industrial experience.
