The Faculty of Management Studies-FMS premier centre of higher learning was established in 1916 by the unparalleled visionary of the country, Pandit Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya. The University is known for imparting innovative programmes to fulfill the diverse needs of the society. In furtherance of the process it launched the Masters programme in Management in late 60s.
During the last 38 years, the Faculty of Management Studies-FMS has churned out over 3000 bright and dynamic managers. The alumni of this faculty not only occupy distinctive positions in industries and commerce in India but also in different developing and developed countries of the world. True to its nature of responding to the needs of industries, the Faculty of Management Studies-FMS pioneered a new Masters programme in International Business Administration (MIBA) in 1991. The students to MBA/MIBA programmes are admitted through CAT conducted by IIMs. Taking cognizance of its expertise and deep commitment to learning, the Faculty has been identified as one of the five Quality Improvement Programme Centres by the All India Council for Technical Education for developing and updating the teachers of management institutions of the country. The Faculty of Management Studies-FMS has been recognized as Host Institution for National Doctoral Fellowship by All India Council for Technical Education. The Allahabad Bank has also created a Chair for the position of Professor in the Faculty in 2004. From academic session 2006-07, the Faculty has launched a new stream of MBA specializing in Agri-Business Administration.
The Faculty of Management Studies-FMS aspires to position itself as prodigious centre of management learning in the country to cater to national and international managerial needs on an enduring basis.
The focus of the Faculty of Management Studies-FMS is on empowering managerial minds through quality teaching and research, consultancy and other professional services.
The Students can avail library facility both at the Department and at the University’s Central Library. The Department Library spread over 1100 sqm is having seating capacity of 120 students. The Library is housing around 20000 volumes under more than 5000 titles. There are 100 journals of national and international being subscribed regularly. Equipped with reprographic and networking facility, the working hour of the Faculty of Management Studies-FMS Library is from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. The Library also provides subject-wise press clippings in folders, statistical abstracts, and annual reports of a large number of Private and public sector companies, financial institutions, case studies, working papers, reprints, microfilms, education video films etc. The Library is well organized with a Bibliography data base of books and periodicals.
The Faculty of Management Studies-FMS is equipped with WiFi Technology. Internet is accessible from all the classrooms, seminar Halls, Library, teachers chambers are covered and even in the nearby areas of the Faculty building.
The Faculty provides full time residential facilities to its students. Faculty of Management Studies-FMS provide a separate hostel accommodation for both girls and boys. The Hostels are equipped with WiFi technology and 27X7 power and water supply, newspapers and magazines, television and adequate mess facilities. The City Delegacy rooms and the Vishwanath Temple are seen as favorite places for leisure and worship.
During session 2007-08, a number of reputed business organizations visited our Campus for holding Placement interviews. The highlight of the placement activities of the session was closer interactions with the corporate world, which enabled the Faculty to diversify the industry base and achieve almost 100% Campus Placement. The strong alumni network also helped the Faculty in arranging job placement for its management graduates. The salary offered to our students ranges between Rs. 2.5 and 6.5 lacs with an average of 4 lacs per annum.
