National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Gandhinagar was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Department of Tribal Development of National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Gandhinagar, Government of Gujarat had established Development Support Agency of Gujarat (DSAG) for promoting public and private partnership and high-end technical / skill development projects for the development of tribals and tribal area (Chief Ministers’ Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana and Kushal Gujarat Abhiyan). Department of Tribal Development proposed to establish high-end Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Apparel Sector in the tribal area of Gujarat. National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Gandhinagar was offered the task to establish the Vocational Training Centre (VTC) and run it for five years. National Institute of Fashion Technology-NIFT Gandhinagar Gandhinagar in consultation with Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat selected Dharampur, Valsad District to establish Vocational Training Centre (VTC).
