Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh a dream and brain child of Rev. Kaka P.S.Tolani, founder president of Gandhidham Collegiate Board running its 30th academic year 2003-04. The History of its last 30 years unfolds the ups and downs of the academy and reminisces. The welcome address by Rev. Kaka Tolani on the inauguration of Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh in 1973, where he had stated, “Friends this is not all. We do not believe in haphazard planning or merely constructing half a dozen or a dozen buildings to house the institutions. In fact Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh aim is to make Adipur a centre of attraction in the field of higher education, with as many educational institutions as would, and in due course, establish a small university.
Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh, today has the largest number of students enrolled in single faculty, in whole of the “Vidya Mandir” Campus in commerce faculty total number of students admitted for academic year 2002-03 is 2087 at under graduate and 200 at post graduate level.
Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh has got the permission of recognized Coaching centre of C.A. it provides regular coaching centre with foundation course (PE-I) and two groups of intermediate course (PE-II) after graduation. Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh college also get opportunity to serve the open University courses like INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY and Dr. BABA SAHIB AMBEDKER OPEN UNIVERSITY with various courses like CIC, BCA, MCA, MBA, B.ED. B.A., B.COM. M.A. and various certificate and diploma courses in management.
In the year 2005, Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh has taken permission to start three career oriented courses under C.O.C. scheme of UGC. At present college running one Certificate Course and one Diploma Course in Foreign Trade under C.O.C. which is joinly approved by UGC and KSKV Kachch University. The basic objective of Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh behind the above course is to give practical knowledge based education to local youth for growing Export-Import related industries in Kandla Complex and Kachchh.
The infrastructure at the time of establishment in 1973 consisted of the Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh buildings including four classrooms and an administrative block. But with passing years in accordance with the increasing numbers of students subsequently three big classrooms were added in June 1990, a well equipped library and reading room were added in oct. 1994 and further two big classrooms in 1997.
The Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh has 9 big classrooms, a library in housing more than 10000 volumes of books and journals, an updated computer center and a big staff common room, chamber of the office Superintendent, administrative block, Principal’s chamber and other necessary infrastructure facilities to accommodate 2250students.There was also structure having five classrooms damaged in the earthquake. The structure is demolished and new wing is being added with the financial aid of the Times Foundation which includes additional facilities like audio visual hall, boys and girls common rooms in addition to the classrooms.
Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh having a big Library with more than 17000 Books, 11 Periodicals with new editions, arround 30 latest magazines and various Local and National news papers. Library of Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh is open from 7 am to 1 pm in 6 days week, provided the facility of reading the books at students convenience. Library also provide internet excess, xerox facility to the student.
In order to provide the technical education in the field of Commerce Education Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh established a well equipped Computer Lab and updated with new and latest software. This is the need of the today’s education. Student can opt computer science as one of the subsidiary subject.
Tolani Commerce College – Kachchh also provide hostel facilities to the boys and girls form outside Adipur or Kutch. Separate hostels are provided to the boys and girls with all basis facilities like Gymnasium, Hygienic Food and Comfortable Accommodation.
