The
University of Connecticut is also known as UConn, a public flagship research university that was formed in the year 1881 with the name Storrs Agricultural School. Its name was given in the honour of Charles and Augustus Storrs who were the donors of the school land. Later on, it became land grant college and changed its name to The University of Connecticut in 1939. The university has six campuses: Torrington campus, Storrs campus, Greater Hartford campus, Waterbury campus,
Avery Point and Stamford campus. Storrs campus is the main campus of the university situated on 4,400 acres in Storrs, Mansfield, Connecticut, United States. Mascot which represent the university is Jonathan the Husky.
